  Budget Update
Based on current enrollment, Skinner West received additional budget funding from CPS.  The LSC members voted and approved the additional budget items during last week's LSC meeting.  Here are some highlights that include some, but not all, of the allocated additional budget:
-Funding for areas that were deferred from May's 2018/19 budget meeting, including
- Instructional support for areas such as Achieve3000, IXL, and textbooks
- Operational support to fund a teaching assistant
- Professional development for teachers
- Indoor Recess Support
- Safety Support
- Student Council & Debate team

We are grateful for the additional funding and thank our LSC for approving the much needed budget items. Interested in learning more?  Come to an upcoming LSC meeting.  Our next meeting is Tuesday, 11/27 at 6pm in the gymnasium

Classroom Connections: Ms. Growe and Mrs. Priola
Mrs. Priola and Ms. Growe lead their kindergarten classrooms in a hands-on pumpkin investigation. The two classrooms worked together to weigh, measure, and count over 100 pumpkin seeds. The students had fun learning about non-standard and standard forms of measurement, and enjoyed getting their hands gooey in this interactive math/science lesson.
